Q&A

What started you on the path toward sustainability?
After traveling in over 40 countries, I became aware that the development path that humanity is immersed in can only lead us into chaos. It is clear how important it is to be aware of our surroundings and our part in the universe when we plan our habitat.

Who inspired you, or nurtured your talent?
Inspiration comes mainly from Nature, which has the wisdom to solve all aspects of any system in a simple, intelligent way, and in harmony with the surroundings. The world can be such a beautiful place that inspiration comes easily.

What gives you hope in your industry?
As times goes by, I see the world coming to a greener path of consciousness and a better understanding of intelligent processes. Although green design is just another drop in the ocean, it gives me hope that the tide is turning.

What worries you most in this area?
Poverty, war, overpopulation, greed …

What advice do you give to young people who want to make a difference in the world?
There are multiple solutions for any condition. Be clean in your approach. Study the past and think of our future.  Be patient, trust yourself.

What is the role of technology in sustainable design?
Good technology is a gift. Technology today is a key part of our design. We can change the conditions of a building, a whole region, or even a people’s awareness by introducing proper technology. It certainly also goes in the opposite direction, as we now witness in most streets of the world.
