Autodesk Unveils Comprehensive Curriculum for Formula Student TeamsAs a Partner Sponsor in the long-running Formula Student single-seat racing car design and build competition, Autodesk has launched the Autodesk Formula Car Design Curriculum as a free download to assist competitors and faculty staff. The curriculum is available for free-of-charge download at the Autodesk Student Engineering and Design Community website, www.autodesk.com/edcommunity. Established in the UK in 1998 and run by the British Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Formula Student provides engineering students with a real-life experience in designing, producing and marketing of a single-seat racing car. The competition challenges and encourages highly-talented young engineers from around the world and culminates in a prestigious race at the legendary Silverstone Circuit followed by an awards ceremony.” The Autodesk Formula Car Design Curriculum has been launched as a free facility for students to help demonstrate the competitive advantage they can achieve by designing their cars with Autodesk software. This comprehensive resource provides tools from its Autodesk’s Inventor software such as the frame generator, dynamic accelerators, stress analysis and dynamic simulation, which contribute to the teams creating more innovative designs and ultimately to success on the race track. As a leader in design innovation software and technologies, Autodesk is proud to support young engineering talent both through its partnership of Formula Student and its provision of free software to participants. “By demonstrating the ways in which our digital prototyping software can help the student teams create higher quality designs in less time, we hope to encourage innovation amongst the engineers of tomorrow,” says Autodesk’s Alistair Brook, education manager, EMEA.
