Autodesk Delivers to Comprehensive Product Portfolio Spanning Multiple Industries

Autodesk today announced a major update to its software portfolio, including advanced versions of more than 25 products to help designers, manufacturers, engineers and architects create, manage and share their data and digital assets more effectively. The breadth and depth of Autodesk’s product line is unmatched in the industry, providing customers the unique ability to leverage design information across the extended enterprise, with the most advanced 3D modelling, 2D drafting and conceptual design, and collaboration products on the market.

“Our customers are transforming the world around us, from the products we use, to the communities in which we live,” said Carl Bass, COO at Autodesk, Inc. “Our software helps customers simulate reality, giving those in the manufacturing, infrastructure, building and media and entertainment industries the capacity to test and visualise in a digital environment. With new efficiencies, reduced errors and collaboration across teams, our customers can bring their most innovative ideas to market faster – staying competitive, while improving ROI.”

Autodesk Solutions – Defining Industry Standards and Innovation

With best-in-class offerings for industrial machinery, building and plant equipment, automotive and consumer products companies, Autodesk’s solutions enable global manufacturers to design more innovative and higher quality products.  The latest release of the Autodesk Manufacturing Solution accelerates and simplifies the design to manufacturing process.  New manufacturing products include:

  • Autodesk Inventor 11 – the world’s best-selling mechanical design software and the best choice for AutoCAD users moving from 2D to 3D, available as part of Autodesk Inventor Series or Autodesk Inventor Professional
  • AutoCAD Mechanical 2007 – the fastest growing mechanical 2D drafting application
  • AutoCAD Electrical 2007 – the tool of choice for electrical controls designers
  • Autodesk Vault – best-in-class data management
  • Autodesk Productstream 5 – automates release management processes by managing engineering changes and bill of materials
  • Autodesk Streamline 7 – hosted project management to increase collaboration across extended teams
  • Autodesk Intent – “engineer-to-order” application that enables real-time engineering
  • Autodesk Showcase – new enterprise visualisation product resulting from recent Alias acquisition

For the infrastructure industry, Autodesk continues to change the way spatial information is used and managed by providing comprehensive, integrated solutions for civil engineers and geospatial professionals.  Autodesk was cited in a recent IDC report as the fastest growing Spatial Information Management company in the world. New infrastructure products include:

  • Autodesk Map 3D – the leading platform for creating and editing spatial data
  • Autodesk Civil 3D – maintains intelligent object relationships using an industry-proven dynamic engineering model
  • Autodesk Raster Design 2007 – edits or vectorises scanned drawings without performing expensive redrafting

In the building industry, Autodesk now offers discipline-specific BIM solutions on the Revit platform encompassing the entire building design industry.  BIM is revolutionising the way architects, engineers, and designers collaborate, and to help its building industry customers realise these competitive advantages, Autodesk is introducing new “series” products that bundle AutoCAD 2007 with the Revit-based products to provide the best road to BIM.  New building products include:

  • Autodesk Revit Building 9 – Designed-specifically for BIM, lets architects and designers work on buildings holistically, rather than in terms of separate floor plans, sections, and elevations
  • Autodesk Building Systems 2007 – better, faster AutoCAD for mechanical/electrical/ plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007 – AutoCAD-based software for architects
  • Autodesk VIZ 2007 – 3D modelling, rendering and animation software for design visualization professionals
  • Autodesk AutoCAD Revit Series—Building 9 – Combines AutoCAD 2007 with Autodesk Revit Building 9

Across all industries, AutoCAD 2007 software is the best platform for professionals who are doing conceptual design manually and facilitates the transition to 3D. The new AutoCAD 2007 is sophisticated enough for complex projects yet beginners will find it accessible.
