Virtual Design for Real Cars

Porsche Design
Come and see how the new virtual technologies influence the Porsche design process. We'll cover the choice of using virtual decision making instead of physical prototypes; the challenges and Autodesk solutions to simulate and visualize new user experiences in new-car projects; common technology process approaches-from CAD (Alias software) to visual simulation to Class A; and the use of new visual simulation approaches to take real decisions day by day (measured materials, light design, car user experience, driving performance, press usage, exhibition, and marketing support). We'll also cover using OGL and GI Raytracing in the process with a single virtual data model; and using new immersive tools to improve and speed up the design process (like head-mounted displays, virtual reality, augmented reality, and virtual sketching and modeling).

The Use of Algorithms in Automotive Design with Autodesk Dynamo

TATA Motor UK
Repeating patterns are everywhere in automotive design. You can find them on exterior parts such as grilles, headlights or on interior panels and knobs. Dynamo from Autodesk is a visual program that uses mathematical algorithms that can generate those patterns. Most importantly it allows for very fast iterations that are impossible to achieve using classical NURBS surfacing tools. Weeks’ worth of surfacing work can be reduced down to only a day using Dynamo. Tata Motors will illustrate how it successfully used Dynamo in the design of one of its cars.

Driving Digital Transformation in the Design Studio : An Industry Best Practice

Renault Design
Renault has always been a pioneer, introducing Digital technologies into its traditional Design process. Continually aims for Innovation has inspired Renault to embrace transformations, driving the change among its people, tools and processes. In December 2016, Renault and Autodesk have increased their partnership and collaborate together to establish a path, in order to accelerate Renault Digital Design transformation. A key milestone was a Digital Forum that Renault created to strengthen its strategy for the years to come. In this session, you will learn the path and elements of this Industry Best Practice

Building a VR Center of Excellence

Autodesk
Autodesk’s Virtual Reality Centre of Excellence in Munich has been open since the beginning of 2017. Since then we have welcomed over 400 visitors from more than 80 companies, covering all industries, allowing them to experience Autodesk VR solutions powered by nVidia Quadro. Our vision was to have a room where Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality could easily be explored in Realtime. The VR Centre of Excellence is a unique place combining cutting edge technologies to blur the lines between the real world and the computer generated, and allow you to design, evaluate and make anything. This presentation will outline what the VR Center is, how we present our use cases, and what was necessary to create this special place. We want to show the AIF audience how VR can be a tool of a professional workflow to make important business decisions earlier and easier, and with more accuracy.
