Solutions for product lifecycle management

Change management

The only constant is change. Manage it better with PLM.

What is change management?

Change management enforces control over revisions to designs, items and records during the many phases of the product lifecycle – from development and production through end-of-life. Product lifecycle management provides change management workflows to help departments efficiently automate and document revisions for enterprise-wide visibility and traceability.

Webinar: Improve Change Management with PLM

In this webinar, you will learn how product lifecycle management (PLM) can help you to take control of change and improve the quality of your products, with capabilities such as closed-loop, linked quality processes from non-conformance to returns to ECRs and ECOs; configurable workflows to track and record changes to product designs as they happen; built-in reporting to analyse trends in quality metrics to prevent failures before they occur; and more.

Take control of change with product lifecycle management

Real-time, configurable change workflows

Easily configure formal and fast-track workflow processes to match your organisation’s needs. Teams can view the progress of a change in real-time graphically as it goes through each workflow state. This visual and collaborative environment allows you to define, review, approve and implement changes in such workflows as:

  • Standard engineering change requests and change orders
  • Design reviews for tracking corrective re-work and ensuring timely project completion
  • Document change orders to enforce standards, distribute and manage document changes
  • Deviation and waiver requests for a temporary time-frame
  • Problem reports to capture bugs, test failures and track root causes

Change management with traceability

All engineering and manufacturing change requests and change orders remain fully traceable in a centralised system. Any authorised person within your organisation can access historical change information to see who was involved and when, which items were modified, as well as any comments.

  • Manage change processes in one location to avoid disconnected work and lost information
  • Conduct systematically auditable processes that include electronic signatures
  • Track compliance to regulations such as RoHS, REACH and ISO 9000

Change notifications and real-time ‘to-do’ list

Those involved in a stage of a change process are automatically notified when that stage is reached.

  • Action required from an individual is outlined in a ‘to-do’ list
  • Reminders are sent with required action details
  • Graphically rich dashboards give you insights into real-time status of changes

Bridge engineering and manufacturing

Quickly see the details of components or sub-assemblies subject to a change and understand the impact of that change on the parent-assembly or product to make better decisions.

Centralised data and easily configured workflows provide a consistent process for cross-functional collaborators to understand and approve engineering change requests and engineering change orders.

Closed-loop process

Linking quality and engineering change processes ensures issues are managed from the initial nonconformance report through to the release of an updated design.
